Performance
The Skoda Yeti is powered the 2.0 liter, TDI CR, 4 cylinder, 16 V DOHC, liquid cooled, high pressure direct injection system, turbocharged diesel engine that is couple with manual 6 speed fully synchronized gearbox in the permanent four wheel drive version with automatic torque distribution- Haldex clutch that works automatically with the ABS, ASR, EDS and ESP, the end result is quicker response to the changing terrain under its wheels than other SUVs which require manual operation. This powerful 1968 diesel engine lays out maximum power of 140 bhp at 4200 rpm and maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm. The Skoda Yeti’s in-line power train comprises of turbocharger with self aligning blades. The motor with advanced off-road features make your on road and off-road journey enjoyable.
This is the same engine which powers Skoda Laura and Skoda Superb but now it returns more engine output. The motor of the Skoda Yeti is power packed and delivers muscular response. However, the company has launched another engine in Skoda Yeti’s fleet with the same displacement but with different transmission. The same 2.0 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine now makes for 110 bhp of maximum power at 4200 rpm and belts out 250 Nm of maximum torque at 1500-2500 rpm. This less powerful engine is mated to a 5 speed fully synchronized manual transmission where power is supplied to the front wheels.
Safety
The advanced Haldex clutch has been smartly integrated to work actively and automatically with the ABS (Antilock Braking System), ASR, EDS and ESP. As this system operates automatically, it makes the Skoda Yeti much quicker to respond to the changing terrain under its wheels than other SUVs which require manual operation. The advanced suspension system of this vehicle reduces the jerks at rough road and makes the handling of Skoda Yeti more convenient. The on-road and off-road handling features include ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), TCS, EDL, ESP and off road assistant with Hill Descent control. The Hill Descent Control system allows you to be on constant speed when driving downhill while the drive-off assistant helps you to start your vehicle on slippery surfaces with ease. The Traction Control system (TCS) helps to cross sand or slush like terrains with improved grip. The EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) incorporated with adapted ABS system ensures motor output being transmitted to the all wheels for extra grip, improved braking, reduced slippage thus preventing fuel wastage. Most of these advanced off-road features are present in the 4x4 version however a 4x2 drive engine is also introduced in the market with ESP and Hill Hold Control. The safety features in Skoda Yeti includes six airbags that includes dual front SRS airbags, side airbags at front and curtain head airbags at front and rear which will minimizes the impact of collision and gives a cushioning effect. The safety system also consists of ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) with EBD, engine immobilizer with floating code system, security code for central infotainment system, remote control locking and unlocking of doors and boot lid with two foldable keys, remote control opening and closing of windows, active front head restraints, height adjustable three-point seatbelts at front and three point seatbelts for rear, protective covers for engine, gearbox and undercarriage, etc.
